Below is the official press release from Runaway Country Music Festival:
Halfway to May and the 2012 Runaway Country Music Festival at Wickham Park is ready, already. This according to the Music Festival‟s assistant director, Robin Tibbitts, “We can‟t wait for May; The line-up is amazing, the new park layout is wonderful, the reserved seats are almost sold out, vending and dining areas are almost full, we‟re ready to go!
Following the success of the first Runaway Country this past spring, impressed Nashville executives are thrilled to see 2012‟s event expanded to three days.
According to Gil Cunningham, President of Nashville‟s Neste Entertainment, “Florida‟s Space Coast has scored a major coup. Growing to three days after just one year is almost unheard of. Securing one of the biggest country music stars of all time, Alan Jackson, is over-the-the-top.”
While releasing some more of the line-up, Runaway Country Director, Gary McCann agreed, “Everybody loves Alan Jackson. Easy to see why; 35 number one hits, 16 CMA Awards, 16 ACMs, 2 Grammys recently inducted into the Songwriter Hall of Fame, Music City Walk of Fame and he‟s on the charts again! “McCann continued, “Talk about charts, Runaway Country‟s 2012 line-up includes chart toppers Brantley Gilbert, Kellie Pickler, Big and Rich and Randy Travis. Also announced; Steve Holy, Ashton Shepherd and back by popular demand Lo Cash Cowboys. 15 more artists still to be announced, among them, quite possibly two of the hottest, young country stars on the planet.”
McCann went on to tease us a bit, “We are contractually bound not to announce them until early in the new year. It will be well worth the wait.
Music fans are in for a treat; new country, classic country, rockin‟ country, and cry-in-your-beer ballads, too…you‟ll experience it all over three great days and nights. If Alan does “Sissy’s Song: or “Remember When” I suppose we’ll have the whole place bawling their eyes out.”
Rob Varley, Executive Director of Space Coast Tourism said, “The Space Coast ought to be proud of what we have staged for the world to see; a 3 day extravaganza with fans attending from thirty five states and five countries last year. We expect even more in 2012. Hosting a Country Music Festival of this significance is certainly a very welcome economic boost. We could not be more thrilled.”
“Just 40 minutes east of Orlando, 12 miles south of Cocoa Beach…it‟s a great weekend getaway and neat experience”, said Tibbitts.
“Many Space Coast hotels have purchased tickets and are including them free with a 3 night stay.
This year we happen to fall right on Cinco de Mayo. Some special surprises all weekend and you don’t want to miss Big and Rich Saturday night. You will still be talking about them Monday morning.”
