Seventy-six-year-old country star, Charlie Daniels, is recovering after having a pacemaker implanted at a Nashville hospital yesterday.
Daniels was admitted to the hospital on Monday for “a mild case of pneumonia” but tests later revealed that he immediately needed a pacemaker to regulate his heart rate. A spokesperson for the star says he plans to be released today (March 29) followed by two weeks of in-home care.
“I am thankful the doctors found the problem and were able to implant a pacemaker to get my heart rate regulated,” says Daniels. “I am feeling so much better and looking forward to spending Easter with my family.”
Daniels has been an active singer since the early 50s and recently celebrated his fifth anniversary as a member of the Grand Ole Opry. His hits include Grammy Award winning song “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” and “In America.”
His upcoming performance at MTSU’s Murphy Center in Murfreesboro, TN, has been canceled and other concerts will be rescheduled when his tour resumes on April 11 in Lynchburg, Virginia. See below for a full list of performance dates.
