We were fortunate enough to attend the Grand Ole Opry while we were in Nashville, choosing the 9:30pm show on Tuesday, June 5th.  The show started off with the legendary Little Jimmy Dickens taking the stage.  While you could tell he was a little under the weather, he put on his usually entertaining segment with wit, charm, humor, and humility.

Next up on the lineup was the beautiful Carrie Underwood.  She gracefully took the stage and honored the Grand Ole Opry with a set of 3 songs…”Mama’s Song”, a song off her new album, and “You’re Lookin’ at Country” a cover of Loretta Lynn song. She did a good job and was the star of the night, as fans rushed the front of the floor to snap photos from behind the front section of seats.

Next up was Easton Corbin, who is gearing up to release his new album.  His segment included his new single, “Lovin’ You is Fun” and his hit “Roll With It.”

The next act was the Grammy Award winning Del McCoury Band.  These Bluegrass legends have been members of the Grand Ole Opry since 2003, and still tear it up on stage.

Love & Theft were up next, and showed why they could be the next big thing in country music.  They got off to a hot start in 2009 with the hit, “Runaway,” but fell off the map for awhile as they reorganized after a band member left the trio to become a duo.  They are back with their first single “Angel Eyes” off their upcoming album self-titled album (due on July 24th).

“Whisperin'” Bill Anderson was up next, and it was an honor to see the legendary singer/songwriter/TV personality live and in person!

The highlight of the night for me was the closers of the night, The Oak Ridge Boys.  The legendary group performed their classics, “American Made” and “Elvira,” as well as a gospel number.  While most fans in attendance were there to see Carrie Underwood, The Oak Ridge Boys stole the show in my opinion.  It was great to see them live and in person, and if you ever have a chance to do the same, do it!
