In case you missed it, we recently made a contribution to the Sun-Sentinel’s article about Darlene Evans of Kiss Country and how she plays the National Anthem at Noon every day. We gave a list of the Top 12 Country Music songs inspired by the events of 9/11. The list can be seen here on the Sun-Sentinel website, or you can view it here below:
- “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)” by Alan Jackson
- “Have You Forgotten” by Darryl Worley
- “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)” by Toby Keith
- “American Soldier” by Toby Keith
- “One Last Time” by Dusty Drake
- “If You’re Reading This” by Tim McGraw
- “Arlington” by Trace Adkins
- “Letters From Home” by John Michael Montgomery
- “Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagle Fly” by Aaron Tippin
- “I Just Came Back From A War” by Darryl Worley
- “Come Home Soon” by SheDAISY
- “If I Don’t Make It Back” by Tracy Lawrence
One more that we didn’t submit to the Sun-Sentinel because it hasn’t been released as a single yet is local band Rambler’s song, “The Answer.”
While there are many other patriotic songs that were not inspired by 9/11, 2 others that really stand out are:
- “God Bless the U.S.A.” by Lee Greenwood
- “Ragged Old Flag” by Johnny Cash
It is my opinion that these 2 songs should be played on radio every day just like the National Anthem. What other songs were inspired by or remind you of 9/11?
